History of Our Church
The Church, The Community, and The People
Over the years, many residents who grew up in and were nurtured by the St. James A.M.E. Church Family left the community to seek opportunities looking for a better way of life.
Currently, many of them reside all over the world. In reflection, we acknowledge and celebrate today because we understand that all we have achieved has been made possible first and foremost because of the fervent prayers of our forefathers at the altar of Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church, and secondly by the legacy and beliefs that Jack and Bina Leonard instilled in their children, grandchildren and the descendants living today which has been passed down through the generations and states,
“We should:
Stick Together, Work Hard and above all Believe in God.
St. James is blessed with a renewed sense of community consciousness. Our future is bright, and we believe with God’s divine help our success will be sustained as we pursue our vision of Building Bridges and . . . . Changing Lives.
